The White Rose Concert Band has signed up to easyfundraising, a web site that enables us to raise funds with minimal effort, and no expense, to members. Over 500 companies who sell goods or services over the internet are signed up to the site, including most of the big names such as Amazon, Marks and Spencer’s, The AA, John Lewis, Maplins, Lastminute.com, Legal and General etc. The sellers advertise their own sites with easyfundraising and if purchasers buy from them, having been referred from the easyfundraising site, the retailer pays easyfundraising for the referral and (if the purchaser is registered as a White Rose supporter) easyfundraising pays us up to 15% if the money spent (though for most purchases it is more likely to be 2.5 – 5%). When buying over the internet, having accessed the site from easyfundraising, you are still dealing direct with the company you are buying from – it does not cost any more and your rights as a customer are completely unaffected. The Band receives its percentage of money spent every 3months, but we are not told who has bought what and from where. Easysearch is an associated internet search engine. It works just the same as the usual search engines (eg Google), and is actually powered by the Yahoo search engine, which is the second biggest in the world. We now have our own White Rose Easysearch and people using this search engine raise 1p for the Band for every search that they do. What you need to do Go to the easysearch site (www.easyfundraising.org.uk) - there is a lot of information about how the site works. If you click on the ‘Register as a User’ button you can then register with the site and select White Rose Concert Band as the organisation you would like to support (note we are listed under W for White Rose and not T for The White Rose). It costs nothing to register. Once registered, if you want to make an internet purchase, you need to go to the easyfundraising site, sign in, then click on the link of the organisation you want to buy from and then make your purchases in the usual way.
