‘Impressive’ Gold for White Rose Concert Band

The White Rose Concert Band continued to sustain their high standards by being awarded Gold at the National Concert Band Regional Festival held in the Victorian splendour of Rochdale Town Hall last weekend.

They performed Metroplex by Robert Sheldon ‘with tremendous rythmic energy’ and followed with the four movements of Gallimaufrey by Guy Wolfenden. The adjudication critique concluded ‘A challenging programme delivered with real aplomb and musical intent’.

Musical Director Ben Tierney said that the band dealt with the difficult acoustic really well and demonstrated their improvement by achieving the highest adjudication criteria they have ever had, it was an impressive advance in performance.

The National Festival will be held at the Royal Academy of Music, London in April next year.

Members of the White Rose Concert band will be playing carols at Booths, Ripon and Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, Harrogate collecting in aid of their charities over the Christmas period. They will also be playing for Oakdale Golf Clubs ‘Christmas Eve Carols’.
